Breast Lift With Implants in Bangkok: How to Choose a Surgeon
Short answer: When choosing a surgeon in Bangkok for a breast lift with implants (augmentation-mastopexy), look for someone who:
Is board-certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Thailand, with a licence you can verify.
Performs combined lift-and-implant surgery regularly.
Tells you whether your case should be done in one operation or two, and why.
Operates in a hospital with an intensive care unit.
Ask which implant brand and model you will receive. Make sure you leave Bangkok with your implant card and operation report, and allow time for a face-to-face review before you fly. At MedSanctuary, breast lift and breast augmentation are performed by Dr. Rushapol Sdawat at Intrarat Hospital.

Which plastic surgeons in Bangkok perform breast lift and implant surgery?
Many plastic surgeons in Bangkok offer breast surgery, in large private hospitals and in clinics. Rather than relying on a list, use the criteria in this article to judge any surgeon you are considering. At MedSanctuary, breast surgery is performed by Dr. Rushapol Sdawat, a Thai Board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon (Medical Council of Thailand licence No. 17689) who has been a member of ISAPS since 2008. He performs breast augmentation with Motiva and Mentor implants in round and teardrop shapes, as well as breast lift and breast reduction, at Intrarat Hospital in Bangkok. See our breast lift and implants page and his surgeon profile.
What is a breast lift with implants?
A breast lift with implants, known as augmentation-mastopexy, combines two operations. The implant adds volume. The lift removes stretched skin, reshapes the breast and raises the nipple and areola. It suits women who want more fullness and whose breasts have also dropped, because an implant alone in a drooping breast tends to give a larger drooping breast. The amount of lift needed decides the incision pattern: around the areola, around the areola and down the breast (a "lollipop" incision), or an anchor-shaped incision for a larger lift.
Should a breast lift and implants be done in one operation or two?
Many surgeons perform both in a single operation, but the decision depends on your anatomy and should be made by your surgeon. The combined operation is technically demanding, because the implant pushes outward while the lift tightens the skin. In a published series of 186 single-stage cases by Stevens and colleagues (Aesthetic Surgery Journal, 2006), 16.7% of patients had some form of revision surgery over an average follow-up of 42 months. A 2014 systematic review of 4,856 single-stage augmentation-mastopexies by Khavanin and colleagues reported an overall complication rate of 14.5% and a reoperation rate of 11.0%. Recurrent drooping occurred in 4.0% of cases. Staging the operation, with the lift first and the implants later, avoids some of these problems but means a planned second operation. If you are travelling, ask how a staged plan, or a revision, would work in practice.
What questions should I ask a breast surgeon in Bangkok?
Ask these questions in writing before you book:
What is your full name and Medical Council of Thailand licence number? Are you board-certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery? (Here is how to verify a Thai surgeon.)
How often do you perform lift-and-implant surgery?
Will you do my lift and implants in one operation or two, and why?
Which incision pattern will I need, and where will my scars be?
Which implant brand and model, size and surface (smooth or textured) do you recommend, and why? In 2019 Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration suspended or cancelled a number of textured breast implants because of their association with BIA-ALCL, a rare lymphoma.
Will the implant sit above or below the chest muscle?
Will I have drains, and how long will I need to stay in Bangkok?
Will I receive an implant card with the serial numbers, and a copy of my operation report?
What happens if I need a revision, and who pays for which parts?
Can I read the consent form in English before I travel?
Our guide to choosing breast implants covers implant shape, size and placement in more detail.
How long should I stay in Bangkok after a breast lift with implants?
Plan for 10 to 14 nights. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons suggests waiting at least five to seven days after body procedures such as breast augmentation before flying. A combined lift involves longer incisions, so allow time for your wounds to be checked in person and for a fitness-to-fly review before you leave. MedSanctuary packages cover 10 to 14 nights, depending on the procedure and your recovery. Read how long you will actually stay in Bangkok.
What should I bring home after breast surgery overseas?
Bring home everything a doctor in Australia or New Zealand would need to look after you:
Your implant card, showing the manufacturer, model, size and serial or lot numbers.
Your operation report and discharge summary.
A list of your medicines and instructions for wearing your garment.
A direct contact for your surgeon and coordinator.
Give copies to your GP. Tell the radiographer about your implants at every future breast screening.
What are the risks of a breast lift with implants?
The risks include capsular contracture (hardening around the implant), asymmetry, recurrent drooping, poor scarring, changes in nipple sensation, wound-healing problems, infection, haematoma and implant rupture. Implants are not lifetime devices. The US Food and Drug Administration states that "breast implants are not lifetime devices," so budget for the possibility of further surgery in the future. Know the warning signs that need urgent care: one breast rapidly enlarging and becoming tight and painful, a fever with shaking, or skin turning dark. Our red flags guide lists them all.
How much does a breast lift with implants cost in Bangkok?
The price depends on how much lift you need and which implants are used. Our breast surgery cost guide gives Thai baht prices with indicative AUD figures and compares them with published Australian fees. Each MedSanctuary package includes airport transfers, a pre-operative health check, anaesthesia, surgery at Intrarat Hospital, first-night monitoring in intensive care, recovery accommodation, take-home medicines and coordinator support.
How does breast surgery with MedSanctuary work?
You send photos for a free assessment, receive an itemised quote, and have a video consultation with Dr. Rushapol. In Bangkok you have an in-person consultation, where final sizing and implant selection take place, and a pre-operative health check. Surgery is performed in the operating theatre at Intrarat Hospital under the care of a qualified anaesthetist. You then recover in Bangkok with monitored care and have a review before you are cleared to fly. Intrarat Hospital is ISO 9001:2015 certified and is not JCI-accredited. Start your free assessment.
